I climbed the train on route to Budapest from Vienna. As I was walking along the hallway, all the cabins had reserved signs on the door. I happened to pass an older couple in the 60’s who sat alone in one of the cabins. In my mind I thought, perfect people to ask whether all these cabins were reserved.

I slid open the door and asked in English ‘Are all these cabins reserved?’

The couple started to look all apologetic and got up and started to grab their belongings. Before I released what was going on…

Here I was, standing alone thinking… stupid me! They of course did not know English, they probably only understood reserved and thought I reserved the cabin.
