Mission to my hostel in Prague

I said farewell to lovely Rotterdam and I embarked my 15 hour bus ride.

In the early morning I arrived at the bus station in Prague. Having absolutely no Czech koruna; I started to look for my trusty friend the Automated Teller Machine. I managed to find my friend and here came the problem. I had no clue what the exchange rate was for the dollar to the koruna. The ATM was showing these big numbers; 500, 1000, 2000 … I realized I was in trouble.

Luckily there was a man waiting in line and he happily told me what the exchange rate was between the euro and koruna.

Problem number two. The thing with the ATM’s is that it does not give you small change. So here I was with a few 1000czk bills. I started with my mission to get small change. I must have gone to five bakeries/kiosks asking if they would give me change. Can you guess the answer?

Here I am back at the ATM and withdrew one 500czk (keep in mind it’s roughly around $25)
Asking if I may buy this random loaf of bread and get some change. Can you guess the answer?

The banks had another hour or so until they were open to exchange my huge bills so I can pay 32czk for the public transportation.

So I found this lonesome taxi in front of the bus station and asked if he may give me a lift to my hostel. He was nice and even nicer once he saw my flag on my backpack. I arrived at the hostel and paid my fare (yes, I totally got ripped off but after a long bus ride and a rough morning I did not care)
Thinking back, I can not recall if the taxi had a sign on the door showing it was a taxi let alone a taxi sign on top of the car.

Problem number three. I arrived at my hostel and I got told my room had some issues. Back on the street. Looking for the sister hostel they arranged me to stay at.

Problem number four.  It must have been around 8 AM and my room was not going to be ready until 2 PM. Yes, I was very frustrated. So I spent the next five hours or so in the common room area chilling, talking to a couple Scottish travellers and on skype with my mom.

The end.
